Today I finally got around to putting together the garland I wished to install in the archway between the two areas that make up the living area within the house.
I was unsure initially how to go about mounting the garland and in the end I used some large hooks. Using the hooks worked very well because of the overall weight of the main garland greenery pieces. I needed to use something that would cope with the weight and the dimensions of the garland greenery. Hooks secured into the actual wood framing of the archway proved to be the best and safest solution.
A large strand of fairy lights, a mixture of gold baubles and some beautiful golden wired ribbon were all added to the overall greenery of the garland. The artificial greenery of what was quite an old garland a friend gave me many years ago now was transformed from something plain and rather simple, to something far more interesting and visually appealing.
I also chose to hang across and down from the top portion of the decorated and suspended garland a special crazy quilted project I created a number of years ago…. it bears a special festive season greeting.

Here’s a couple of closeup photographs:

It really is encouraging when something you had envisaged comes together to be as lovely as you had hoped it would be.
This garland display adds that extra decorative & visual dynamic because it frames the view seen on both sides of this archway. Overall it is very festive and also very visually appealing. I am delighted with the result achieved.
