Christmas Apron Making Continues….

I have been working away on the second Christmas themed kitchen apron. I decided I would look to add some pockets to this apron and so a good portion of time was spent on working out how to do those today.

It took some time to figure out how to construct the pockets. I chose to line each of the pockets with both an inner and a back lining (you may remember I did add additional linings with the first Christmas themed kitchen apron I blogged about sewing).

I chose to line the pockets because I want to make sure they are constructed in a way that makes them substantial. I want to be able to use them to occasionally literally carry things if required, without too much risk of damage to the actual apron (sometimes when I slip out to get the laundry in off the washing line, a good handful or two of clothes pegs can end up being put into whatever pockets I have available to me).

You can see in the above photograph I chose to add some white bric-a-brac braid at the top contrast pocket edge. I did do a bit of topstitching on each pocket also.

I am pleased with how each of the pockets ended up looking. They made this apron look quite different from the previous Christmas one I made, which is also in the exact same fabrics.

I am pleased with both aprons that I have worked on to date, and they are sure to be both practical and fun to wear in the future.

I did finish the second apron to completion by the end of my sewing time today and I will aim to share photographs of the final product in the next blogpost. Here are some photographs of the pockets showing them as they finally appeared on the front of this apron.
