A friend who works voluntarily at a charity shop kindly located some wonderful Christmasy items for me today. It is that time of year, when people are perhaps having a bit of a post-Christmas declutter, particularly of Christmas themed items.
I was delighted with the items she found and I happily reimbursed her for them. It was rather fun for both of us, to see what crossed her path whilst at work and what she personally felt would be lovely to pass on and for me to have first dibs at purchasing. She found some really delightful items!
I always find it fun and interesting to go charity shopping myself. You just never know what treasures and bargains you may find with each trip to a local opportunity shop.
I am currently putting together a shopping haul video, which I plan to share in February when I launch the Christmas Project Diary Youtube Channel (Yes, that is another component of the Christmas Project Diary coming soon!), and this first shopping haul video will showcase the various items my friend found for me.
However, in the meantime I thought I would give you a sneak peek here at The Christmas Project Diary Blog at a couple of the items…. some rather pretty ceramic platters!

This platter is quite large. I think it would make a superb decorative display item in the kitchen area!

I purchased a couple of Invisible Disc Plate Hangers, which adhere to the back of items you wish to hang. Because of the weight of the platter, I also chose to add some extra glue adhesive, so it will hopefully be very secure.
I think this platter will look really lovely as a wall decoration, so I am not too worried about the plate hanger being permanently adhered with the glue. When I finally get it mounted on the wall, I will have to share the results in another blogpost.

There was also this longer, rectangular platter that matched the square one, in amongst the items my friend found. It also looks rather lovely. At this stage, I may use this as an actually table or bench decoration; I have yet to decide.
I think it would be quite fun to keep my eye out for Christmas themed china and ceramic items similar to these platters, and create a wall display of a diverse range of them. It would again be interesting to see what crosses my path whilst out op shopping.
I would also like to keep my eye out for Christmas themed needlework, as often these seem to become ‘orphaned’ at Charity shops also, and a wall display made up of a diverse range of Christmasy needlework could look rather lovely also.
I find these pictures, which I found on Pinterest of other people’s needlework collections (found and/or made) quite inspiring. I shall have to see what Christmas ‘orphans’ cross my path….

This vibrant wall display is so appealing. The owner of this studio is said to have found these various needlework items when out charity shop shopping….they create such amazing visual impact displayed like this alongside each other!

This stairway display is so visually interesting also. A hallway could also be given a similar fun treatment, to create visual interest as you pass to and from along the hallway.

This display just looks so bright and happy. I find these few pictures found on Pinterest very inspiring. It will be interesting in keep my eye out and see what Christmas themed needlework projects may cross my path when I am out visiting a charity or opportunity shop.
There might just be a wee little Christmas cross-stitched angel or Christmas tree that needs to find its way to a new Christmas loving home to be displayed as part of a special collection on a happy coloured wall space ….. I will have to think what wall and what colour, won’t I!
In the meantime, I am delighted with the two ceramic platters that their way to have found a new forever home at our place. I just have to wait for the glue to dry, to then be able to hang up the very first delightful platter!
