Christmas Creativity

Trees, wreaths, garlands….. there is much that can & is used to set the scene for Christmas festivities & celebrations. Over the years, I have handcrafted a number of things that now get to be enjoyed at Christmas time, as special Christmas themed decor.

Nativity characters, angels bearing special Christmas greetings, quilted wall hangings, heart shaped handmade ornaments, cushion covers, tablecloths, teddy bears all dressed as angels, life sized Nativity characters, ornate ribbon bows ready to tie to a tree branch……….hours & hours of time & care were put in, in order to create a diverse range of special Christmas themed decor items intended to all help create a special ambience especially at Christmas time for my household & our visitors.

It creates a sense of anticipation and excitement when the totes containing our Christmas decor gets hauled out, and these handcrafted Christmas items are something that I was delighted to be able to personally contribute over the years, alongside other decor items purchased or gifted to us.

Yet, I still have totes with several Christmas themed sewing projects not finished. I have often discovered them when looking for something else, and each time I think to myself, I must get on and get them completed. Yet, too often once again I get sidetracked by other priorities and these particular totes, all full of unfinished Christmas themed handcrafted projects, simply go back into storage.

It takes time and it takes perseverance to get a quilt finished or a group of angels handcrafted. Yet this year, this very year ahead of me, I hope to make a breakthrough with some of the UFO’s (Un-finished Objects) that have been too easily tucked away, again and again, as other priorities took over.

A Tote of Unfinished Projects

There are several totes with such projects, and I have to date only pulled out one of them. Perhaps by sharing occasionally on this very blog about where a project it at, it will help me persevere to finally get the hoped for breakthrough to get some of them done, sooner rather than never!

A closeup of some of those unfinished projects.

A tote of half finished angels could soon become a tote filled with completed, ready-to-hang and display angels………………. how wonderful that would be! A year focused that bit more on Christmas and what it is about and a year of creativity? I like the idea of combining the two very much.
