As I sit on the couch going about writing this blogpost, standing tall in the corner of the living area stands a Christmas tree. It is a tree laden with that which, for me and mine, entails a very special family tradition. A family tradition that literally began many decades ago now.
Since I was about twelve years old, my maternal aunt has given me each year a Christmas decoration. It has become a special component of Christmas Day, waiting to see what ornament it is that has been chosen to be passed on to me that year.

This year the tree stands tall and very fully laden. I have yet to count how many decorations there are in total, but there are most definitely many.
Many numerous ornaments are suspended from the branches of this specific tree. Ornaments gifted not only to myself, but also ornaments gifted also to my children, as the same tradition was passed on also to my children by this sweet, dear family member.
Angels, shepherds, musical instruments, the nativity family… they all are depicted in a variety of materials and forms, and this beautiful, diverse collection of Christmas ornaments was and is a source of joy.

This Christmas tree now laden with an extensive array of ornaments, all carefully selected over many years, reminds me of the key story, the key components and elements that are all central to what Christmas is about for me and my family.
When the fairy lights are switched on, the tree looks extra special. Yet even without the lights being on, it is still deemed extremely special because of what it symbolizes and what it reminds me and mine about.
A Christmas tree is a significant component of how we now often choose to commemorate Christmas and its season being present. This year I particular appreciate all that it reminds me of from in the past, the present and even looking into the future.
We can choose to find joy in the collective beauty created by small individual acts of love & generosity, as is clearly symbolized in each of the ornaments hanging before me as I type this very blogpost.

This year, as I view this particular Christmas tree, I am reminded of the love of family and what is at the heart of the Christmas story.
For this tree and its diverse, eclectic array of ornaments I feel very grateful.
For the numerous years of unconditional love depicted & expressed by each & every single ornament on this very Christmas tree …………………..my heart feels very, very blessed.
